Energy Conservation for Portable Hot Tubs, Inflatable Hot Tubs or an In-ground Hot Tub

Cutting back on energy use is a priority that everyone will benefit from. You can participate in energy conservation when it comes to your hot tubs portable in a number of ways. Tip number one is simple. Retain the heat! Majority of hot tubs portable have very well insulated shells, so it is important to pay close attention to the spa cover. Heat rises, so the spa cover holds the biggest responsibility to keep as much heat inside the tub as possible. Make sure you have a spa cover with a fairly dense core; therefore it will be more difficult for the heat to escape. Also, make sure it is fastened correctly on the top of the hot tubs portable when not in use. This means make sure the cover fits perfectly on top of the inground hot tub, the straps are tied tightly and the latch is secured snugly. This is another reason why it is imperative to fix any small tears and scratches you find on the hot tubs portable cover, because those will act as outlets for the heat to escape from the tub.

Energy Conservation for Hot Tubs

To add an extra barrier to aid in the heat retention, you may want to consider getting a floating insulation blanket. This is placed right on top of the water and reduces the amount of evaporation, thereby keeping the moisture off of the hot tubs portable cover. This is also beneficial to the hot tubs portable cover because it reduces the risk of becoming waterlogged. Also, if you know you are going out of town or you know you will not be using your inground hot tub for an extended amount of time, then turn the heat off completely. There is no need to waste energy on something that is getting no use. Furthermore, most Inflatable hot tubs come from the factory with a high temperature set at 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Reducing this set temperature to 101 or 102 degrees Fahrenheit would decrease energy consumption significantly.

One more way to retain heat and save energy would be to create wind blockers. Some wind blocking examples include hot tubs portable gazebos, fences, landscapes or privacy panels. Another energy saving option is to only operate the thermostat during off-peak hours. If you are using a timer, turn the timer off between 6am and 10am, and then again between 5pm and 9pm to avoid utility rates. Inground hot tub jets are also a culprit in energy consumption. The jets blow air bubbles into the water, which unintentionally lowers the temperature. This makes the Inflatable hot tubs thermostat use more energy to keep the hot tubs portable water temperature steady. Therefore, also try to minimize jet use when it is not a necessity. Keeping Inflatable hot tubs filters clean also greatly reduces the amount to energy used. If the filter is clean then the water circulation can remain constant. This is good because any sign of water circulation slowing down will trigger the inground hot tub pump to work harder to try to fix the problem. So it is beneficial to replace the filter annually for both energy conservation and for clean water.

Another approach to conserving energy is to buy an inground hot tub that is specifically designed for that purpose. A lot of the newer Inflatable hot tubs are designed with smaller pump motors to reduce energy use and there are also Inflatable hot tubs that are designed with fewer jets to save energy as well. However, one of the most innovative spa designs to be energy efficient is the solar heated model. The solar powered heating method is much like the gas and electric heating methods where the hot tubs portable water is heated through pipes that it is passed along through. But with this method the pipes are laid out on panels that can be set on the ground or a rooftop where they gain warmth from the sun. It’s this warmth from the sun that is then transferred to the water, thereby eliminating any use of wasteful energy consumption.

Another conservation method worth mentioning is the conservation of water. It’s always good to avoid wasting water, which would have to be refilled and reheated. If you notice any leaks coming from your Inflatable hot tubs, repair them immediately. Also be sure that your spa jets aren’t so powerful that they are shooting water outside of the hot tubs portable rather than inside. In addition, only drain your tub when necessary. A tub that gets used often should be drained every three to four months. Plus, when you do drain the water from your hot tubs portable, you could drain it to water your lawn (if no chemicals were added within the past 48-72 hours) or send the water into a sanitary sewer.
